RLQ Funding

Each local government participating in Rural Libraries Queensland (RLQ) will receive a small cash grant each year to support their library services. This annual grant pool (renamed as the Local Resources Grant in 2018) is set at $43,000 for the state and is shared equally across all library service points in the RLQ network that are open to the public for six or more hours per week.  This funding can be applied to:

  • magazine subscriptions
  • other local stock not necessarily supplied by State Library e.g. local history material
  • library equipment and furniture
  • consumables used in public library programs
  • computer equipment.

This funding cannot be applied to:

  • staffing
  • any materials and equipment which will not be used within the library for library purposes.

No application need be made for this grant. Funds will be paid to Council automatically each year once the Service Level Agreement is signed and the annual obligation and statistics reports are submitted to State Library of Queensland.
