Tech Savvy Seniors Queensland

The Tech Savvy Seniors Queensland Program is an ongoing partnership between the Queensland Government (led by State Library of Queensland) and Telstra. This partnership is giving older Queenslanders the opportunity to develop the skills and confidence to use technology for socialising, accessing important services or conducting personal business.

Since the program began in 2016, 26,508 seniors have embraced digital technology by participating in 5,473 free training sessions delivered across the state through participating public libraries and Indigenous Knowledge Centres. Seniors have participate in many different training sessions, including how to use a computer, laptop, tablet, smartphones and in some libraries STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts and Math) activities.

The 2018-19 program will continue to support older Queenslander’s to get connected and participate in the ever increasing online world, with the real objective of increasing digital inclusion amongst the ageing, and helping reduce social isolation. 21 public library services were successful in receiving grant funding to deliver the program in 2019.
